Announcements:
  1. CCSS.9-12.G.SRT.6:  Understand that by similarity, side ratios in right triangles are properties of the angles in the triangle, leading to definitions of trigonometric ratios for acute angles.
  2. CCSS.9-12.G.SRT.7:  Explain and use the relationship between the sine and cosine of complementary angles.
  3. CCSS.9-12.G.SRT.8: Use trigonometric ratios and the Pythagorean Theorem to solve right triangles in applied problems.

      3. Overview:  Part 1: This assignment familiarizes you with GIMP’s ability to desaturate images (take the color out) to make them black and white.   The tutorial itself does not provide specific step-by-step instructions.   You will need to read through the tutorial, and then use GIMP to adjust an image of your choice.  Part 2:  This part of the assignment introduces you to selective coloring processes.
        1. Open GIMP 2.
        2. Open a web browser and navigate to this page:
          1. http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/Color2BW/
          2. Read through the tutorial.
            1. Follow the steps in the tutorial to convert a color image to black and white.  (Use an image of your choice for this, but try to choose an image that will look good in black and white)
            2. To complete this assignment, you need to create and save the following images:
              1. Find and save your ORIGINAL, color image in your photography folder.
                1. Name the image “16_BW_Original.jpg”
              2. An image converted using the ‘Grayscale’ mode:
                1. Export the final image as “16_BW_Grayscale.jpg”
              3. An image converted using the ‘Desaturate’ mode:
                1. Export the final image as “16_BW_Desaturate.jpg”
              4. An image converted using the ‘Decompose RGB’ mode:
                  1. Export the final image as “16_BW_DecomposeRGB.jpg”
              5. An image converted using the ‘Decompose HSV’ method:
                  1. Export the final image as “16_BW_DecomposeHSV.jpg”
              6. An image converted using the ‘Decompose LAB’ method:
                  1. Export the final image as “16_BW_DecomposeLAB.jpg”
              7. An image converted using the ‘Decompose CMYK’ method:
                  1. Export the final image as “16_BW_Decompose CMYK.jpg”
              8. An image converted using the ‘Channel Mixer’ method:
                  1. Export the final image as “16_BW_Decompose CMYK.jpg”
        3. Assignment Part 2:
