Standards and Benchmarks (Geometry 9-12):

1. CCSS.9-12.G.SRT.6:  Understand that by similarity, side ratios in right triangles are properties of the angles in the triangle, leading to definitions of trigonometric ratios for acute angles.  
2. CCSS.9-12.G.SRT.7:  Explain and use the relationship between the sine and cosine of complementary angles.
3. CCSS.9-12.G.SRT.8: Use trigonometric ratios and the Pythagorean Theorem to solve right triangles in applied problems.

1. GIMP is now installed and working on the student computer lab computers
2. To use GIMP at home, you may download the software FREE, HERE.  
3. Introduce Tutorials Assignment
1. For the rest of Quarter 3, and moving into Quarter 4, students will be utilizing the GIMP software to manipulate images.
2. GIMP.org has published many tutorials  that are available, from beginner to intermediate to advanced.    All of these tutorials can be found HERE:  www.gimp.org/tutorials
4. Today's Assignment: (Assignment #2):  Floating Logo
1. 1. Class:  Friday, March 7th
   2. Must be completed before:  Friday, March 14th
   3. Overview:  This assignment introduces you to some of the capabilities of Layers and Filters in GIMP.
   4. Assignment:
   1. Open GIMP 2.   It is now installed on the computers and will appear on the start menu.    It does take some time to load on the KCS computers, so be patient.
   2. Open a web browser and navigate to this page:
   1. http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/Floating_Logo/
   2. Read through the tutorial.
   3. Follow the steps in the tutorial to create your own floating Logo using your own name.
   4. Export the final image as “05_Floating_Logo.jpg”
5. If you finish with THIS assignment, then you can continue on to Assignment #3

Homework:

1. Complete the above tutorials.   If you are not working on the school computers, you will need to EMAIL all of the images you create to Mr. Wilcox.
